The first woman in the Director&#8217;s Guild of America, the first woman to direct a sound film, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acmi.net.au\/works\/100548--dorothy-arzner-and-the-boom-mic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the inventor of the freaking boom mic<\/a>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She had a 40 year relationship with choreographer <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marion_Morgan_(choreographer)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marion Martin<\/a>.
